When you enter a room, what do people see? How do they experience you? Do they see all of the beauty and talent you bring to the table or do they focus on the wrinkles, spots or imperfections that pop out on occasion?
Recently, many of my clients have had an interest in Meeting Management and Presentation Skills as they relate to how you prepare, show up and mange the meeting process. Meeting Management and table manners go hand in hand. The purpose of good manners is to create a sense of order and shared expectations. It makes the meal a pleasant experience when everyone shares a meal, understands the underlying exceptions of which fork to use during a given course and there is a natural order.
Guess what! The same is true for meetings. When you call for a meeting, your guest expect and need you to lead the process and set the course of order and expectations. The clearer the expectation, fewer wrinkles will occur through out the meeting. Always consider how you show up and how you want to be interrupted during your meeting or presentation. The better prepared you are for the various audiences, the more success you will have as the meeting lead.
