Regardless of what we think, we make and leave impressions. They have impact and can breathe influence into the room when we are no longer present. Much of the work I do with clients is centered on the topic of influence and connection with others. This past week was spent with a group of MBA students from Brazil. They each, in their own way, made an impression on me. They worried about their English while making presentations and I was impressed with their command of English as they spoke two to three languages. They were bright, focused and engaged in the topic and a delight.
Your ability to influence others is directly related to your comfort within yourself, your ability to communicate your ideas, needs and vision while connecting with others in a very authentic manner. Real people make real impressions and have a natural ability to influence situations and people.
